In order to visualize the annotations, just select the box at the bottom of the chart.
Annotations are displayed on the chart with the following icon placed directly over the metric or the period in case of global notes.
Mousing over the icon opens the box below, showing the description of the notes enabled for the chart under examination, while the ongoing annotation will be highlighted.
The Annotation panel makes it easy to add new or edit existing annotations.

Goals are displayed on the chart with the following icon , placed directly over the metric.
Mousing over the icon opens the box below, showing the description of the active goals for the chart under examination, while the ongoing goal will be highlighted.
The Goals panel makes it easy to add new or edit existing goals.
